In order to understand the relationships people have had with the Australian environment, understand the impacts, effects and issues associated with these relationships, it is important to have something to compare against- a starting reference point.

Where does this fit...?
You need to be able to look at some of the adaptations of plant or animal species that suit Australian conditions. You also need to be able to connect the conditions that helped shape the Australian environment (biological isolation, geological stability and climatic variation) to an environment you have studied. Our key environment is the Australian Alps. Watch the video "The hills are alive" to see how these three factors have shaped the Australian Alps and some of the unique plant life found in it. |
