2.2.1- The impact of conservation, commercial and recreational activities
Human impacts have changed over time. From indigenous Australians using fire to manage and manipulate the environment to produce food and to make it easier to travel through. It is also believed that they introduced the dingo to much of Australia. European arrival signalled the arrival of permanent settlements, fences and new species of plants and animals. Over time, use of the environment changed to incorporate taking the resources it was able to provide; timber, gold, iron ore and coal.
Today humans undertake a variety of activities in outdoor environments. Nearly all of these activities can be broadly classified in three key areas:
