Changes to technology has had some of the greatest influence over the way humans relate to and impact on the environment. In unit one we looked at how technology can change an individuals experience. This section is more concerning the impacts technologies have on outdoor environments.
Technology is a very broad term- We need to consider the all of the various ways humans have modified the natural world to better suit us. This refers to the application of science for practical purposes, extending human abilities, and manipulating the environment to satisfy our wants and needs. While its easy to recognise that human use of technology impacts the environment, how it does this can be analysed in two ways:
